I dream of the day when I don’t spend enormous amounts of time trying to do something that I have no idea how to do. Technology is one of the best things in our lives but at the same time for some of us it is also one of the most frustrating. I know just enough to understand that something is possible and to perhaps put together various pieces of that thing. I know where to look on the internet for answers but somehow the answers seem as confusing as the project. This is my poor excuse for not completing the You Tube posting today. I decided to make a slideshow of my work and did eventually do so. I set up a You Tube account-partially. I could not get the “Channel” for some reason and could not figure out how to get the slideshow from my account to the You Tube account. At least I know I will have another 24 hours tomorrow to toil away towards that goal. I do thank Nicole for the opportunity to do this when I’m not under the gun and I can take the time I need. It was, and for me continues to be an interesting challenge.
New Favorite for the Crock Pot
After a long day of play or work isn’t it wonderful to come home to a delicious meal. Even better when all you need to do is dish it up! That’s why I love crock pot meals. I always have more energy for cooking in the morning so I gather the ingredients and throw them in the crock pot, turn it on and voila!-yum!
I have been on Weight Watchers for 3 months and while doing this I discovered a site called Hungry Girl. This site posts daily newsletters with recipes, new products on the market and various nutritional information. I got the following recipe from this site. It taste like regular food, the nutritional content is excellent and for those of us who are weight watchers it is only 4points for a 1 cup serving.
Fajita Beef Stew
12 oz. beef in bite size pieces
2 Tbl. fajita seasoning mix,
1 -14.5oz can of diced chilles (not drained)
1 large russet potato (peeled and cubed)
1 large onion (diced)
2 bell peppers (any color-cut to bite size)
2 portabella mushrooms (cut to bite size)
4 cups beef broth
1 tsp. garlic (fresh minced or from a jar)
Add all of this into the crock pot, cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 7-8 hours
After this is cooked (if you want to do this -I did not and still enjoyed the stew)
dissolve 2 Tbl of cornstarch in water and add to stew-simmer 5 min.
Serve stew in bowls topped with freshly chopped cilantro-YUM!!!
Enjoy
How to Plan Your Soul Story
1. Find a photograph of a subject. The subject should be a person place or thing that is meaningful to you. Enlarge or reduce the subject and make a photocopy in black ink, cut out.
2. Using a sheet of paper 9 X 12 or 11 X 14 as a guide make design decisions.
a. colors: colors that work together and perhaps have a relationship or meaning to the subject (photograph).
b. Shapes/Design
1.-Overall design to include where to place the focal point (photograph). Never directly in the middle.
2.-designs to complement the story like things that feel antique or contemporary-depending upon the focal point. Stencils, various papers to include handmade, tissue, woven, pages photocopied from books, magazines, and/or sheet music. Found objects like hardware, sewing notions, game pieces, etc.
3.-layers of interest: how to place the layers of information, important to have things relate to the focal point, support the focal point and overlap and weave itself through the story.
4.-information relating to focal point: words and/or numbers like addresses, quotes, important dates, titles.
3. Use the decisions made above to do a rough draft of the potential piece. The idea is to see if the shapes and colors work together and to practice the placement of information so that it tells the best story about the focal point and has a feeling of cohesiveness and depth.
